We hold the view that government has a fundamental role to play and also has an obligation to ensure the implementation and fulfillment of the Constitution and policies. We work with government from a local to national level.
We also work with different institutions, across movements locally, nationally and continentally as well as internationally both south north and south south. We will do this in ways that will enable us to be an integral part of the struggles for justice of cross movements as well as seeking their support and solidarity for our issues, demands, claims and struggles. Building solidarity and alliances is essential to our work on consciousness-raising and changing mindsets. IYWD has connections and have worked with organisations in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Serbia, Denmark, Botswana and Nigeria.

We work with corporations and foundations that share the same values and beliefs on gender equality and equity. Successes that we have achieved in with a number partners are well documented and traceable. We valuable diversity because it allows us to address young women’s needs and interests in communities. For those reasons our doors are open to work with corporations and foundations to find sustainable solutions to our challenges.
Statement on Heroines/ Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day in Zimbabwe.
The Institute for Young Women’s Development (IYWD) joins the rest of Zimbabwe in celebrating
two remarkable public holidays, “Heroines/Heroines Day” and “Defence Forces Day”. It is not a
coincidence that these two holidays are synchronously celebrated as their significance is intertwined.
We pay tribute to the Heroines and Heroes of this country who sacrificed themselves for
the greater freedom of the motherland.
